Starting the Year 2010.

The annoncement of Tanton winning the Westlawn Institute and PassaMaker Magazine design competition is a good start. I was personally gratified, because of the reputation associated with the School and the Magazine itself. I was glad to receive the award in Ft. Lauderdale. The occasion was made in conjunction with the TrawlerFest in January.

  3. Great idea to have this blog. My T43, s/v Siren, is on the South River, near Annapolis.

  4. First addition for me to this blog - I have owned Fera hull#22, since 1988, she's currently overwintering in Inverness Scotland.
It'll be good to chat about these boats again - we have huge amounts of experience between us.

  5. Up-date on the Construction aspect for the LST32.
Kanter and Winninghoff have expressed interest in building the boat. Kanter in Canada with an ALStrong method of building; and Winninghoff in N.E. Both builders very well respected for building aluminum boats. Both have a set of specification at hand.

I intent to pursue more builders in the N.W. Pacific area. And elsewhere.
Notes: cost associated with design, engineering are not included with estimate given by potential builders. They have to be negotiated with TYD, in function of specification, design modification and method of construction.

  7. The Design Competition was announced in the October 2008 issue of PassageMaker Magazine. I'll be glad to send you by e-mail the full text. Meantime, the contest aims to find a new trawler design that is cruising capable, affordable, and economical for a couple on a budget to operate.
