Sailboats paintings.

Foot note.

- I have Professionally designed boats since 1966. I do not want to age myself but for that period of time, most of the design work was simply, not so simple; on 2 dimensions paper and pencil or ink on vellum and Mylar; with a third dimension in my brain to visualize contours, perspectives and nuances.

- Thirty years later, 1996 computers in my office took fully over the design process. For the good or the bad, entire generations, history and talent went from hand drawing to pushing buttons.

- I do not want to dwell on it but, this is what took me to go painting! Where I can use "Through Hand and Eyes" to paraphrase the title of  Ted Hood's book to exercise the certain form of creativity of mine.

I.M.O.C.A 2020 / Vendee Globe Race / M.Y. I.M.O.C.A.

                                                  IMOCA 2020 Design.

- 1995 Project for the 1996-97 Vendee Globe Race. Designed with a single chine, with straight daggerboards and a rotating keel, mast, and wishbones.

- With just a year to go before the start of the Vendee Globe, and with the Transat Jacques Vabre underway, let's make the point as of now and for the future IMOCAs over the next 12 months. I have no access to files about the newly launched boats; therefore, I will start with my own evolution with designs for this very special Class.
- Eventually, with the progress and comments to be made, I might change my ideas to present a coherent and up-to-date approach to my own vision.

- Well, this year has been something else. I found myself so busy that I had no time to follow through with the Vendee Globe; to write my own vision about the IMOCA evolution, besides the fact that it is over my head at the moment, having no access to the tooling necessary to elaborate this foiling era for the Class.

- Eventually, I'll get back with my interpretation.

-Well! Too late. Pressure at work and the total focus on the revolution have prevented me from following through as I said above. As the boats approach the finish line in an unprecedentedly close race for the Vendée Globe, I reserve my comments and observations about what is happening.

                                                                               TYD#972.

- A good friend of mine purchased this "lobster yacht".
- A turn of an event, if I can say!

- I had just completed the design TYD#300 for him, and it was about to be built.  I found the boat, design #972, for sale on Yachtworld.

- Since I had been involved with the Design and Building, I sent the link to the client. The next thing I know, he ended up buying the boat! Shelving the new plans. Well, I got paid either way, and this is a good product.

- Sold a few years ago, the boat has a history that you can follow in the article below that I wrote during her conception.

- Good to have her back, she is a good one, and is being registered again in Newport, Rhode Island.

R.I.P Jeremy McGeary.

- "Mac", a good man, recently passed away. Too young to be dead at 71 years of age.

- Mac, as he preferred to be referred to, was an encyclopedia of knowledge in all directions, from discussing Fifth Elements to boats and everything in between.

- As a yacht Designer, Mac worked for Pedrick Yacht Design, Rodger Martin Design before returning to his native place in England to become chief designer at Camper & Nicholsons.
Returning to the US, Mac worked part-time for a couple of years at Tanton Yacht Design. Always subdued, simple, honest, and brilliant. Especially good at details, he helped me to complete all aspects of several notable yacht designs.
