Tanton Yacht Design is 52 years old!

Very hard to believe.

- From being 27 years old then to now, and into the future. After my first adventures in Designing Yachts with Illingworth and Associates in England, then with Andre Mauric in France, and finally with Dick Carter in the USA, I bit the bullet and established my practice in Newport, R.I. in 1974.

- Making, in my field, one of the oldest design firms in America, Sparkman and Stephens is the "doyen".

- Yes, I work mostly by myself, but at times I have had excellent helpers to contribute to my wayward ways of going about things.

= Steve Baker of Jamestown and Jeremy McGeary come to mind. Very good indeed on the Design side.

I am not mentioning people involved with my Boat Building and Brokerage Ventures. Let's say that I also got involved with 6 start-ups, as well as other activities related to boats, materials, and construction.

The 70's.

-My first commissioned Design in the US, a One-Tonner.

- One of the most famous pictures in the world of Offshore Racing.

The 80's

- Cat-Ketch Toucan, which I owned back in the middle 80's. Now, the boat is in California.

The 90's.
